On reaching BEEAH’s zero-waste target, we will repurpose the resultant empty landfills into solar farms. This solar-landfill project, another first for the region, will be developed in partnership with Masdar and the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWGA). Solar photovoltaic panels will be installed on the landfill site across three phases and will produce up to 120 megawatts of clean energy on completion, creatively using available land resources and meeting the UAE’s solar energy development targets.
