Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWTE)

BEEAH, in partnership with Masdar, established the Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWTE) to address two critical challenges: managing non-recyclable waste and developing sustainable power solutions.

As the UAE’s first dedicated waste-to-energy company, EWTE is pioneering projects across the MENA region, transforming waste into clean, renewable energy.

Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility

The Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility, inaugurated in 2022, is the UAE’s first commercial-scale waste-to-energy plant, setting a benchmark for future projects across the region.

  • Processing Capacity: Handles over 300,000 tonnes of waste annually, reducing landfill dependency.
  • Clean Energy Output: Generates 30 MW of renewable electricity, sufficient to power up to 28,000 homes in Sharjah.
  • Environmental Impact: Prevents the release of 450,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year while conserving 45 million cubic meters of natural gas.
